I recently read an online discussion about fashion bloggers never re-wearing their clothes and making it appear as if they have insanely huge budgets and really large closets. Every blogger has a different story and a different budget and I rarely know much about their personal lives so while I am often envious of someone who always appears to always have new clothes I try not to judge. The only thing I do know is that these people were not talking about me because I re-wear my clothes far too often. To the point where I start to expect emails from all of you asking me to shop more so you aren't forced to see me wear the same pieces all the time. (No seriously, if you could send me a couple of those emails so I could blame all of you when I do shop I'd really appreciate it).
You look so cute! Great coat! I'm feeling a little hesitant about boring my readers. Since my goal is to wear everything as much as how many dollars it cost me, people are going to see some things dozens and dozens of times!

For me, I find it much more realistic when a blogger shops her closet and isn't constantly wearing a new outfit every day. While I'd love to have this luxury, the reality is I can't go shopping for new clothes all the time. Plus I think a part of having true style is being able to rework your clothes to make different looks :)

I love those shoes...I wanted a pair bad but waited too long and then my size was gone. Lesson learned.
ReplyDeleteCobalt is such a pretty color on you. You look gorgeous girly!

I so know what you are saying here ... I feel like I am always leaning towards the same things when I look in my closet ... I make a extra big effort to force myself to switch it up! you look lovely and I never ( I mean I always, hehe) notice any repeats!!

I personally prefer seeing remixed outfits because it's more realistic to everyday life and fun to get ideas on how to re-work clothes. Though I could use a few of those e-mails myself when my shopping habit gets a bit too crazy ;)

That blue is wonderful on you! Also I love the leopard belt with it! And I know what you mean. You love what you love in your closet!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a great week!

I love that you rewear your clothes, its a lot more realistic.
ReplyDeleteNo big wardrobes here. I minimize and donate stuff I never/rarely wear whenever I can. To me, a very stylish woman is someone who doesn't have the biggest closet, but makes every single piece in that closet work for her style.
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking the same thing!! I have barely bought anything all winter long, so I feel like I've worn the same items over & over & over again! I am so ready to do some spring shopping and bring new life to the blog (and to my life in general... putting on the same 3 black/gray sweaters with either black pants or black skirt with black tights is getting old even for me!) That said I do appreciate when bloggers rewear clothes! Definitely makes them more relatable! Love this cobalt blue on you, and as always, those shoes are perfection!
ReplyDeletethe outfit look great! I really have totally the same impression, some fashion bloggers wear their things only once or twice and then sell it/throw it away or do something else with it, and the piece is never seen again. I also rewear my clothes often, on the one hand because there are some items I really love and have since quite a long time (like the turquoise wrap cardigan I recently wore, i don't know if you have seen the post) and on the other hand, because I just don't have the budget for shopping every week. I think it's quite good to show how to rewear things in different looks, like jessica does it on her blog what I wore, I enjoy looking at photos that show me 5 or 10 different ways to wear one skirt! Why don't you show how you wore the item last time at the bottom of your post? I was also thinking to do this...

so true! I definitely re-wear clothes...
ReplyDeleteLove those heels, every time!

I enjoy your real-girl lifestyle fashion, and that you repeat your stuff. I can relate to this way more than a blogger who is constantly buying (or more likely being sent) new gear all the time.

girl you look amazing no matter what! you could wear that blue coat everyday, and I would still come back here everyday to see it :)

You look so pretty in all of these pictures! I love that dress! And of course the jacket as well :)
ReplyDeletei agree with the other comments about remixing your wardrobe and being much more relate-able! but i also know how you feel, thinking you are constantly wearing the same 5 things. my bf asked me recently how long i thought i could go without repeating an outfit on my blog haha! i guess he thinks i wear the same thing all the time :)

Totally agree, although it would be great if we would all have the budget to go shopping as often as we want - right? ;-) I re-wear my clothes a lot too and I also don't mind wearing the exact same outfit with the exact same accessories again. If I like it, then why should I stick to the "rule" that you're not allowed to wear the exact same look several times? Anyway, I totally thought this outfit had new items (like that pretty dress and necklace)... so hey... you've got me fooled ;-)

I find the most inspiring blogs the ones that recycle items, not only is it realistic but it makes it so much more interesting to see how they make it look new every time. You need a lot of style to do it! And before I even saw the text of this post, I was already planning on commenting about how every time I see that coat, I get happy! Seriously, absolutely love it!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle;-) As much as I like to shop I just can't get a brand new wardrobe every season. I think a true fashionista knows how to make old pieces look new again. Keep on mixin it up!

ReplyDeleteI totally love the fact that you wear and re-wear your clothes often! As much fun as it is to see bloggers that jump on every trend and constantly buy new things to accomodate that, it is not realistic for my budget or my wardrobe. It's something I've struggled with but I'm definitely learning to buy quality and only items that I really like (this idea was solidified when one of my closet rods collapsed from too much weight last month.. embarrassing!). So... just want to encourage you to stay this way. Your readers appreciate it ;)
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great week!

p.s. sorry.. had to fix up some grammar mistakes ;)
Re-wear away, it's so inspiring to see other bloggers give existing pieces a fresh look and wear their clothes often. It's something... I'm really trying to do more of on my blog - it's hard to keep shopping. Darn, budget! ;) And I love this dress paired with the cobalt blue coat, beautiful as always!! xo
ReplyDeleteWas this convo with me? Sounds like something we'd talk about. Was actually just browsing fashion blogs and feeling jealous. I feel a little less jealous after reading this. But I'm still hoping that you marry rich. That way, you have to get me amazing bday and Christmas gifts for the rest of our lives. We're related...it's the rules! PS Drafting up a letter about how you need to shop more riiiight now ;)
ReplyDeleteI have the same dress and it looks fab on you! And ironically my name is Melissa too! =)
ReplyDeleteHaha! I feel the same way about re-wearing clothes on my blog. I'm certainly not guilty of the never rewearing crime. I'm sure there are some things my readers are sick of seeing so often. Love this dress on you, and it certainly merits multiple wears. - Katy
