I never thought I'd say this but... I miss tights. My legs just look better covered up in black stretchy material. When they say black is slimming I think it holds true for black tights. They make my short stubby legs look longer and leaner. Now that I have to expose my pale bruised legs to the world I'm wondering why I was so anxious to stop covering them up?
I am not a fan of tanning and I after I turned 28 and started freaking out about aging badly I started wearing spf 95 to prevent sun damage so at this point I don't have much hope on getting a tan. Any suggestions for self tanners that won't go orange or streaky? I've worn one brand before but in pictures I looked like an oompa loompa. I guess the other option is to just rock the pale stumpy legs, but I think I'll keep that as a last resort.
I miss tights too. But for what it's worth, your legs look great in the photos! :)
ReplyDeleteCome take a look inside A Working Mom's Closet
I miss my tights too, but your legs do look pretty awesome in these pictures. You definitely don't need the tights!
ReplyDeleteI SO wanted this top from Gap when I saw it in the ads, but it either never made it to our nearest store or was gone by the time I got there! Sooo adorable. Also, I had no idea you were 28 but this makes me feel a whole lot better. I thought I was eons older than all the other bloggers out there! (I'm 29) And let me know if you find any amazing self tanners... have been thinking about doing the same! I've heard good things about Dove, but can't seem to find it anywhere...? Did they stop carrying it in Canada? Sad!
ReplyDeleteyou'r so beautiful! :D
ReplyDeleteYou always have so many cute things from Zara! I wish we had one in Seattle!
ReplyDeleteDove summer glow is the best moisturising tanning lotion, but I have searched & searched & haven't found it here in Canada. If you see it, jump on it. And your legs look fine :)
ReplyDeleteI myself am a pasty-legged gal. Being a red-head I have always been worried about skin damage, namely because for me sunburns start happening after about 10 min in the sun. The only faux-tan I have tried with success is the air-brush tan. You can get just legs or full body or whatever you like and customize the shade. It looked really good and lasted for a couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya! I really like Lancome's Flash Bronzer for legs. It's a mouse and doesn't streak or make your orange.
ReplyDeleteSee ya soon:-)
Short and stubby?? Not at all! You look great in these photos! :)
ReplyDeleteI use Jergens Natural Glow. I think it works pretty well and looks natural.
I tried Mystic Spray Tan once. I looked like an OOmpa Loompa! And my feet ended up with some kind of spotty, leopard print pattern on them. Not cute at all!
love the red with the military green!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way! I hated tights in the winter (mostly due to static), but now that it's no-tights time, I'm kind of missing them.
ReplyDeleteSelf-tanners scare me because they smell so strongly of chemicals, and because skin is our body's largest organ, and it's probably going to absorb some of it. Plus, mine is always streaky or fake looking anyway :(
I am embracing the pale. Mostly because I'm lazy and really shaving is enough already. Talk about TIME. And EFFORT. Bleh, I hate those things. K this got ranty real quick, lemme just look at your cute top again...aaaaaaand we're back. In the happy place.
ReplyDeleteLove that top & necklace! I am also missing tights - they just seem to add polish. I just bared my pasty legs for the first time in my last post, and was also thinking "I wish I was wearing tights." You're not the only one :) Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteI desperately need to find some faux tanner too- it's the sadest fact that I actually do look healthier with a tan, but I would also like to not be a wrinkly mess in 20 years so I've been slapping on the spf95 too. The ghost jokes have started coming out at work now :(
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit- very Canadian summer chic! Those loafers are perfect too, Zara? Wow I might have to stop in! xx
As an owner of a pair of short, pale legs, I can say two things... 1: I wear black tights for an inappropriately long time after it gets too warm to do so, just to avoid blinding anyone with my bare legs. 2: But the fact is, far more women have short, pale legs than long tanned ones. Maybe not something to embrace, but accept, at least? 3: If self-tanner is an absolute must, try one that builds a tan- you apply it every day like moisturiser and you get even, if lighter, colour within a week. Life brand makes a surprisingly good one :)
ReplyDeletexox,
Cee
I've been using the middle formula of Jergens and it goes on really well. At the beginning I was applying twice a day and it got a little wonky but once I backed off to just once a day it looks fine.
ReplyDeleteAnd seriously why are we still getting bruises at 28 years old? I'm not jumping around on the playground so where are they coming from?
I'm embracing the white and stumpy until it's cold enough for my cute clothes. I freakin hate summer, sweating, and swim suits. I plan on hiding until it's fall again :)

Your legs are great! I miss tights too, but our weather in London has been so bad many girls are still wearing them!
ReplyDeleteCuuuute!! i adore your necklace hun xx
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA SPF 95! There are days that I miss tights as well, but you have beautiful legs my dear! You rock shorts no problem xo
ReplyDeleteOh shush, your legs are lovely! We're all pale after the winter season... try to go outside more and get that natural light :)
ReplyDeleteLove the plaid and fringe combination! Amazing.
