I remember the first party I ever went to in high school. Not only was I the only person there who didn't drink yet, but I arrived so early that I got there before the person hosting the party did. Seriously. I sat in our family van with my mom and I ended up helping the girl set everything up.
I wish I could say that over the years I grew out of my obsessive compulsive need to be early for events but alas, I am early 99.9% of the time. And not even 5 minutes early, I'm talking 30-45 minutes. Even for dinners with my family when I know they will all be late.
If something positive has come out of me being unfashionably early, it's my ability to get dressed really really quickly. Of course I have days where I hum and haw over what to wear, but if I'm on a time limit? No problem.
Like the other day where I told myself I had 5 minutes to run into the house and throw on something before rushing to dinner. Luckily my legs were shaved (over share?) because I was able to throw in this vintage dress and accessorize it with basic black in 3 minutes. I even had enough time to spare that I got to take 2 quick photos!
And then I arrived to dinner 23 minutes early and got to sit in my car tweeting.
I wish I was kidding.
Haha! I wish I were fashionably early... it would save me the trouble and panic of rushing through traffic to get to where I'm going in time. I sadly like to keep my timing tight... I love your dress. That's a great vintage find! The color and the pockets are so modern.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit!
ReplyDeleteI always try to be early-I hate the feeling of being rushed. And when I'm early? I use my phone for Twitter and Facebook. Perfect time-waster!

I'm the same way! Especially at the movies, I always end up waiting at least 20 minutes in the theater before my friends show up during the previews!

Cute Cute Cute!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think we would be friends. I can't stand it when people are late.
ReplyDeleteI am also early ALL the time! 30-45 minutes! I usually end up re-applying my makeup about 5 times, tweeting, facebooking, reading, napping... it's sad and wonderful all at once. ;)

That dress issuper cute. I like the color on you.
ReplyDeleteHaha you are a total freak, but at least you're a fashionable one! I love that color on you.
ReplyDeleteI hate how all my friends always want to go out at like 10 or 11 at night. Can't we all meet around 8 and be to bed by a reasonable hour? jeesh.

Hi dear,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all you look very fresh and stunning actually!
And second, I too share the same passion with time. I always go earlier to my appointments and I get mental when I am about to be late!
My wife gets upset when I try to rush her :)
xoxoxo
You look gorgeous! That dress is fabulous!

I am an early monkey, too (I started to say early bird but it just did not seem appropriate). I am imagining poor nervous high school Melissa helping the party girl set up and even though I am giggling I sympathize, I really do. Well you look super lovely for dinner so it ain't your fault that beauty comes so quick and easy!!
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean you'll be unfashionably early for dinner this Thursday too? :) Looking forward to our get-together.
ReplyDeleteHaha. I'm always early too. It's my trademark. I think that's why I became a journalist.
ReplyDeleteThis dress is so beautiful! I'm usually always early too! I hate being late though - it stresses me out sooo much!!! I'd MUCH rather be early to events!
ReplyDeleteThank heavens for shaved legs! And sunshine!
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous!

ReplyDeletePS, love the dress too.
Aw, I also find myself being at events too early I'm not quite sure why ha-ha but it's definitely better than walking in late :) your dress is absolutely stunning I love it :) so chic and simple but gorgeous.

Pretty dress, great color for Spring!
ReplyDeleteIn some ways I'm sad I have to admit this, but it's so good to know there is someone else who arrives early for everything, even if they know everyone they'll be meeting will be late. I grew up in a chronically tardy family and I think I overcompensat chronically; I can, and will, get ready for any event in record time, just to arrive twenty minutes early to sit around waiting for everyone else. On the bright side, I like to think I always look fabulous and you definitely do. The dress is just adorable!
ReplyDeletexox,

ReplyDeleteHaha your posts always make me laugh. I wish I could be early for things, but I am always the one that's making a mad dash for the door 5 minutes behind schedule and a 30 minute drive ahead of me. But I absolutely love you in this bright colour! What a fabulous vintage find.
